He was nominated thirteen times for his filming and editing work, including an International Emmy Award nomination, two BAFTA nominations at the Children's Awards, and four nominations at the Royal Television Society North West Awards. Nicolas won "Best Children's Programme" three consecutive times at the RTS NW 2018, 2019 and 2021, as well as at the Rockie Awards 2018 in Canada.
He shot, produced, directed and edited a full series of 18 short documentaries for the BBC, as well as a documentary series called "I've Been There' for the BBC which sees celebrities opening up to their fans about their past teenage struggles.
